Dr. Gloria Luong earned her DMD from Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine, where she graduated first in her class, and holds an MS alongside it. When it is supervised by a dentist, professional whitening is considered safe for healthy enamel. Dr. Luong checks your teeth and gums first and adjusts the plan if you have sensitivity, gum recession or existing dental work.
Some people notice temporary sensitivity during or shortly after whitening, and it usually fades within a day or two. We can adjust gel strength and wear time and recommend desensitizing products, especially for tray whitening.
Many patients enjoy their results for six months to two years, depending on diet, smoking and home care. Custom trays make touch-ups easy, and whitening gel refills are available from our office.
No. Whitening changes natural enamel only. If you have visible dental work, Dr. Luong will explain how your new shade will match and whether any restoration should be updated afterwards.
Professional gel is stronger than over-the-counter products and is applied either under supervision or in trays made for your teeth. That means more even color, less gel on your gums, and faster results.
Adults with healthy teeth and gums and yellow or brown staining from coffee, tea, wine, tobacco or aging usually respond well. Some gray or internal discoloration from medication or injury may be better treated with bonding or veneers.
